BCSS logo

We are a friendly group of people that are very enthusiastic about cacti and succulents; cultivation, species variation, ecotypes, natural habitats. We meet every third Tuesday in the month, 7:30 pm, at West Thorpe Methodist Church, Dringhouses, York, YO24 2PN. Come and join us, new members are always very welcome.

The British Cactus & Succulent Society (BCSS) has over 90 Branches in the UK, including the York Branch. The objectives of the Society are to promote the study, conservation, propagation and cultivation of cacti and other succulent plants. Membership of the Society is open to all. Our meetings typically involve a presentation on a recent trip to see plants in habitat, speakers describing their own collections or cultivation techniques along with quizzes, raffles, tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. We also often have plant sales and small displays of plants at these meetings. For details see our Branch Programme and Events list. The branch also has a library of wonderful books freely available to York BCSS members Next month on Tuesday 13th December 2011, will be our Christmas Dinner! This will be at The Olive Tree, 10 Tower Street, York, YO1 9SA, at 7:30pm. Please contact our Branch Secretary if you would like to join us (John Galvin Tel. 01904704829 email john.galvin36@btinternet.com). Our Branch Photo Gallery contains pictures of cacti and succulents, recent trips and events.
