Welcome to the York Branch of the BCSS

The objectives of the British Cactus and Succulent Society (BCSS) are to promote the study, conservation, propagation and cultivation of cacti and other succulent plants. Membership is open to all.

The York Branch meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at West Thorpe Methodist Church, Dringhouses and we offer a varied programme each year. See our events page for further details and our contact us page for more information on how to find us.

Our meetings typically involve a presentation on plants in habitat, speakers describing their own collections or help with cultivation techniques, along with quizzes, raffles and tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. We often have plant sales and small displays of plants and you are welcome to bring plants for everyone to see and talk about. We aim to bring one cactus and one succulent to each meeting (there is no pot limit) and there is ample car parking at the hall. The Branch also has a library of wonderful books freely available to members.

We are a friendly group of people who are very enthusiastic about cacti and succulents and their cultivation and natural habitats. You would be welcome to come along to a meeting and introduce yourself.
